and I were married on Tortola in the BVI's in April 2005. After just one
weekend trip to Tortola ten months before our wedding, I don't think either
of us knew it might turn out as perfectly as it did. We could not have
hoped for anything more. At our first meeting, Heather had brought along
Jim, the photographer as well as Di, the caterer. Very aware of our limited
time on the island and the importance of our pending big day, this to
us was the first sign that all was going to be just perfect. First I must
say, as a Virgo and a definite Type A, part of me was petrified by planning
a wedding from a thousand miles away and not having complete control of
everything at all times. On the other hand, having made enough trips to
the Caribbean and also having lived in the islands for almost a year,
we told ourselves that this was going to be the most perfect day of our
lives, no matter what happened. I think we both felt that we may have
to sacrifice a little in order to be married in paradise. We both felt
that nothing was ever sacrificed in getting married on the beach in the
Caribbean.
Here's why we would use Heather all over again:
1) She knows the islands, having grown up in St. Thomas and having lived
on Tortola for almost 20 years. She knows everyone on the island, and
as a result, can do just about anything. Whether it was suggesting a taxi
service to transport guests between the beach and the reception, floral
designers, a photographer, or that ultimate location. She knows all the
nooks and crannies on the island and within the larger BVIs. Because of
all this knowledge, it seems nothing is an impossibility with Heather.
2) She is honest. She will not suggest someone just because she knows
them, but instead because she knows that they are good and most importantly,
reliable!
3) She is respected by all she works with. This is part of why she gets
things done. People know she has a good business going, and that the popularity
of destination weddings is fast growing. By never disappointing Heather,
they will be called upon again. This is important to people Heather rely
on repeatedly, and they do not want to disappoint her.
4) It's all in the personal touch. Nowadays, you can go anywhere in the
world, be hooked up with a wedding planner at a resort, show up with no
input into set-up, choice of minister, music, food, or location. With
Heather, she wants you to be happy. You are not just another couple. She
truly is engaged, and wants your wedding to be a success and unforgettable
for all the right reasons.
5) She is always in control. She does not get flustered, rude, or bossy.
This is a great trait to have, and an essential attribute to a wedding
planner.
6) She is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and help out. We had 60 guests
for our wedding, and each received personal attention. Whether it was
Heather helping them beforehand to find accommodation on-island, or helping
serve dinner at our reception. She is just always on-the-go, and knows
exactly what needs to be done. The day before the wedding Heather met
us in town, went with us to get our license, and left us off at the church
for our meeting with the minister. Even the legal matters that had to
be handled, were fun to do with Heather.
7) She keeps pressure off the bride. She will make decisions as far as
possible, and where she thinks things may be much different than what
was originally discussed, she will very nicely present it to the bride-to-be,
or the groom-to-be, depending upon how involved the latter is in the preparation.
8) She becomes a part of the family. We still exchange emails today, almost
a year after our wedding.
9) She is always available. After we returned to Maryland after our planning
trip, all correspondence was done through email. Responses from Heather
were always timely. It was just so reassuring to know that everything
was under control.
10) She is good, really, really good at what she does! It amazes me that
Heather is as successful as she is doing it all by herself. Our hats are
off to Heather, and we would have no hesitations to refer anyone to her.
She is the best!!! We have had friends marry all over the world, and everyone
at the wedding was totally impressed and loved her."
